34 - Week 5 4ieme: A Fistful of Collards - Geneve

 Thursday, March 27

I had a hard time waking up this morning.  I've gotten my routine down to be out of the house in 8 minutes but I just couldn't stir quick enough.  Fortunately, I recognized I wouldn't make my tram and settled for arriving to work's train station at 9:06 instead of 8:36.

It was a lot of conversation today, covering many subjects.  Atop of work related topics, there was also a story about replacing the gasket of a windshield (every car shop said the operation had a 50% chance of breaking the windshield), cannelé from a colleagues recent visit to where I'd been in France, and a recommendation to try a Williamine (pear) liquor.

After work, a friend showed me around Geneva's river areas and provided commentary on shops worth checking out for clothing or watches.  I trust his advice because he dresses quite smartly and does a decent amount of shopping to bring back to his family in Egypt.

There was a dinner among colleagues this evening as part of an effort to try different cuisines on offer in Geneva each month.  This month featured Ethiopian, of which one of our scientists hails from.  It was an impressive spread and I ate till I could barely move.  It was my first time experiencing the phenomenon of a waitress showing us how to pack food into the injeera and then putting it into someone's mouth 😆

I liked it all but the tartare that was added to the spread was, frankly, amazing; and since many people at the table don't eat raw things, that means more tartare for the rest of us 😋  oh, and I kept finding chicken drumsticks instead of eggs when I was pulling from the middle 😆

We had meant to ask for one bottle to share 5 ways, instead we were brought 5 bottles 😅 The Tej Bouteille was nice, sweet but also slightly spiced.
